Guadalajara

Fundraising campaign, 2019

21.4 million children in Mexico live in poverty. More than half a million children in Mexico do not have a birth certificate. Almost 5 million children in Mexico do not attend school.

Guadalajara is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, with a reported population of over 5 million inhabitants, making it the second most populous metropolitan area in Mexico, behind Mexico City

The children in these images live in the poorer suburbs of the city, rife with street violence, drug dealing and child trafficking. They are being supported by Mayama, a non-profit organization with a new model of education that aims to transform the lives of children and their families living in high marginalization and violent conditions.
